What is taping?
Previously, taping was a type of physical therapy used by athletes to quickly restore muscles and ligaments. After 40 years of successful use on athletes, cosmetologists thought that special plasters could also be used on the muscles of the face.
Special kinesiology patch is needed for taping. These are pieces of fabric material, on one side treated with a sticky, but at the same time hypoallergenic composition. Athletes use it to regulate and relax muscles, fix ligaments and ensure proper muscle mechanics.
Since facial wrinkles are often caused by hypertonicity of the facial muscles, the decision of cosmetologists to use taping to relieve excessive tension becomes quite understandable. So tapes work almost like botulinum toxin therapy. For example, they are able to reduce the mobility of the facial muscles responsible for the appearance of the brow or nasolabial folds.
Taping is especially useful for young girls who have a predisposition to hypertonicity of the facial muscles, but there are no pronounced age-related defects so far. However, older patients will not hurt to use this technique: relaxation of a certain muscle group can reduce the severity of facial wrinkles and provide skin lifting. In addition, taping has a lymphatic drainage effect, which means it prevents the stagnation of lymph in the tissues of the skin of the face and neck. After several procedures, the movement of lymph and blood supply get back to normal, and the skin looks fresh and rested.
